Drowning in fabric

…or how my friends are huge enablers! It doesn’t help that I’m a fabric hoarder, as well.

dsc_0002_098dsc_0004_099These are curtains which my friend, the one moving to Ireland, gave me because they wouldn’t fit in the suitcase with other things. She even washed them so that I don’t have to.

Please keep in mind that this is folded multiple times, as there was no way the actual size could fit in the frame. I especially love the blue fabric, that I’ll most likely use for tote bags of different sizes. I plan on trimming those edges first, and then start planning how to best make use of the print.

I also have a confession: I cheated. On Monday, as my dad drove my mom to work, I couldn’t resist the call of sewing, so I started playing with the small pouch. White lining with pockets and black lace on top. I really love the effect. I’m not 100% satisfied with how it turned out because I was hand sewing it. One of these days I’ll cheat again and use my sewing machine.

What’s on your cutting mat?
